Who was Karlo Paržik?
Born in a Czech village Velis in 1857, Pařik moved to Sarajevo at the age of 26, where he spent the rest of his life. Pařik worked as an engineer at the Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as a professor at the Technical school. Pařik placed his personal mark to around 160 architectural projects, the most impressive ones being in Sarajevo, such as Hotel Europe, National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo City Hall, Academy of Fine Arts, Sarajevo National Theatre, Saint Joseph’s Church, and the Ashkenazi Synagogue.
